MIDI synths for QWS

Hi.

Well, I might be scoughed at, but I don't own a MIDI keyboard, but use the onscreen keyboard of qws for basic things; i find the windows synth that defaults quite laggy; so, a few years ago I purchased the Yamaha XG50 which is now no longer sold or made. Does anyone know of other synths, their price, and how good they are, that work with QWS's onscreen keyboard?

Thanks.

well, for one, you could try the virtual canvas to experiment. I am not sure if its being sold now, but if you contact me i might have other ways of getting it to you. you can also download the free VST host and get a VST synth (free or inexpensive) and som of the lag might go away. It all depends on the customization of the synth, ETC. I find that the roland vsc (virtual audio canvas) performs reasonably well (when you set the response times to shorter values like at around 17 percent). If you set the buffers to a shorter length the audio just chops up and may freeze the computer. The best solution though is a midi keyboard. I have experimented with all kinds of synths and the one that beats it is your physical tone generator: no delays or anything whatsoever (assuming you use the midi input and output of the keyboard itself).

the delay is also caused beause of your processor speed I've been told, however I'd like to doubt this theory because I've got a 1.9 dual core amd athlong so I can't imagine it being that slow. But yes, a midi keyboard is probably the best way to go. I, as I've said, have had lag as well. me and louiano hae a couple f really good synths that sound damned near realistic so if you'd like to hear them give me or him a shout on skype.

I don't like the onscreen keybaord. for the delay reasona nd I have no idea what notes I'm playing either.
